New partnership with Atlas Safety Management

We are incredibly pleased to announce that we have appointed Atlas Safety Management, based in Wellington, to continue with our high expectations of Health & safety Management and Training here at Dan’s Engineering.

They will be working alongside our existing in-house Compliance team using their expert knowledge to produce a bespoke Safety Management System designed specifically for Dan’s Engineering to guarantee our business is compliant with all the current Health and Safety regulations and legislations.

Health and Safety in our workplace is one of our highest priorities and reflects our Company value of actively caring for each other's Safety.

Store Person | 4/05/2021

Location: Dan's Engineering Ltd, Unit 19 Small Industries Estate, River Lane, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 0AA.

Salary: From £10.00 per hour

About the Role: To provide general day-to-day duties around the workshop premises. The Store person is responsible for the internal movement of stock in a safe and efficient manner with a focus on upholding work standards and providing excellent customer service.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be from a warehouse/stores background.
  • Experience with stock control, and distribution.
  • Must be comfortable using Excel.
  • Must be a proactive team player, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Good Communication Skills.
  • Forklift trained and qualified.
  • Driving license advantageous.

Duties Include:

  • Unloading (where necessary) deliveries in a safe and timely manner.
  • Loading vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
  • Checking and signing incoming goods against delivery notes.
  • Assist in the preventative maintenance of the forklift.
  • Responsible for reporting any faults or damage of equipment or stock.
  • Responsible for any housekeeping or H&S issues, which include keeping the workshop and grounds up to a satisfactory standard that will meet any audits.

You understand that you have a responsibility to adhere to Safety and Quality based rules. You are also responsible for the Safety and Quality of you, your work and others working around you. Please Note Physical Demands: This position requires constant use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and moving your whole body such as lifting, walking, stooping and handling materials. The use of safety protective wear including goggles, steel toe capped footwear, gloves, helmets and hearing protection utilised daily. Weather consideration also to be taken into account as this role is both indoors and outdoors depending on the activity.

Recruiting: WELDER/FABRICATOR 27/01/2021

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Role: Reporting to the Workshop Manager, as a welder/fabricator, you will be required to help us install various steel products as part of a team working within the utilities sector, food production factories and construction industry. We manufacture platforms, staircases, hand railing, lifting gantries, gates, barriers and much more. This will be a workshop-based role with opportunities to gain further skills. In this capacity, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Operate machinery including rollers, press brakes and drills.
  • Proficiently operate MIG and TIG welding equipment with primarily focus on stainless and mild steel.
  • Examine work pieces for defects. Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
  • Proficiently operate cutting saw and other metal fabrication tools.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and the overall shop.
  • Complete the required job paperwork.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
  • To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.

Recruiting: SITE INSTALLER 

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Role: Reporting to the Project Manager, as a site installer, you will be required to help us install various steel products as part of a team working within the utilities sector, food production factories and construction industry. We manufacture platforms, staircases, hand railing, lifting gantries, gates, barriers and much more. This will be a site-based role with opportunities to gain further skills, undertake a variety of training courses and gain NVQ qualifications. In this capacity, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Ensuring all risk assessments, method statements, permits and COSHH are read, signed and understood before undertaking any installation work.
  • Ensuring that all tools and equipment are used in a safe manner.
  • To complete any site inductions/training and awareness where requested.
  • To ensure all work is completed to schedule and report all on-going works to the project team in a timely manner.
  • To liaise with the site managers/contractors/clients where required and maintain positive relationships.
  • To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Checking materials and equipment against paperwork prior to departure from workshop.
  • Completing and returning the required paperwork.

EN1090 Exc. class 3

We are pleased to announce that we have improved our EN1090 accreditation from execution class 2 to execution class 3! This enables us to offer a wider scope of products both to our existing and to any new customers. 

We are very pleased to have achieved this certification as we strive for continuous improvement and it again shows we are dedicated to high standards of workmanship.

Workshop Extension

After much planning we are starting the extension to our workshops. Ground work is well under way and the steel frame work is going up. Check out the pics in our projects gallery to see how we are progressing. 

This extension will increase our production area by a third which will help us to meet the continually increasing demand for our services. It has also given us the opportunity to work with SWMAS to create a more efficient and effective workflow.

Fit for nuclear status (F4N)

Fit For Nuclear – Dan’s Achieve F4N Status.

We are proud to announce that we have recently achieved Fit for Nuclear (F4N) status. This allows us to provide products and services to another specialist sector.

It was a vigorous process in which our methods of working, our facilities and factory control procedures had to be monitored and checked then verified via internal and external auditors. Our staff have been key to maintaining our high standards which also includes accreditation to ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001.

The Fit for Nuclear status allows us to extend our services in to the nuclear sector, offering mild and stainless steel fabrication services from design through to installation.

All our dedicated site workforce and office staff have completed the training set by F4N. The training sessions where very useful and have contributed new ideas to our current state as well as our future development plan.
